Choose your audience
Before choosing a subject line, decide who this email is for and what would make it useful to them. A product update for existing customers needs a different introduction from a welcome note for someone who has just subscribed.
Use subscriber tags and audience rules to make that choice explicit. Check the group before sending: a smaller, relevant audience is a more useful starting point than a list assembled without a clear purpose.
Choose one call to action
Write a short subject line that describes the email honestly. Use the opening sentence to explain why you are writing, then make the main action easy to find. Read the message without its images as a quick check that the meaning still comes through.
Start from an editable template when you have one. Keep the essential information in live text, give informative images meaningful alternative text, and make sure links describe where they lead.
Check your domain, links, and layout
Verify your sending domain in your workspace and review the sender name, reply address, audience, subject, and attachments. Open every link. Include the unsubscribe controls required for your campaign rather than treating them as an afterthought.
Send a test and read it on a phone as well as a wider screen. A test is useful for catching missing images, cramped buttons, and an unexpectedly long opening paragraph before the real audience sees them.
Send and review the results
When everything is ready, send now or choose a schedule that suits your audience. After sending, review the campaign results and any replies. Delivery events, opens, and clicks describe different parts of the journey; use them as context rather than assuming a single number tells the whole story.
Keep a short note about the audience, subject, and action you chose. The next campaign can build on that decision instead of starting from an empty document.
