Move the audience. Keep its history.

  1. Export and preserve. Save the original contacts, subscription statuses, consent evidence, exclusions, templates and reports. Include every audience or list that may contain the same address.
  2. Prepare the subscribed-only file. Remove all unsubscribed, complained, bounced, invalid and otherwise excluded addresses. If an address appears in both files, the exclusion wins. Keep old platform IDs and consent timestamps in your archive.
  3. Map to the dashboard CSV. Use email, name, tags. Convert provider groups or lists into intentional tags. Keep unsupported fields separately; do not assume a status column is imported.
  4. Import a small controlled batch. In your workspace, open Subscribers, choose Add Subscriber, then Import CSV. Upload the reviewed file, inspect the result and reconcile the contact count and tags before continuing.
  5. Rebuild and test before switching. Verify your sending domain using the exact DNS records shown in the dashboard. Rebuild workflows and integrations, check enrollment behavior, and send only to mailboxes you control. Pause the old route before routing production traffic to the new one.

Check your prepared CSV locally

Your pasted data stays in this page. This tool makes no network request, imports no contacts, and creates no platform suppression records. Use normalized comma-separated CSV. It performs basic formatting and exclusion checks, not consent verification or mailbox validation.

Rename your email field to email. Join first and last names into name. Separate multiple tags with semicolons. If supplied, only subscribed or active status rows can remain; other statuses exclude the address, including duplicate rows.

Run the check after your final edits.

What needs a separate decision

Contacts and exclusions

Only import people with current permission. A prepared active CSV is not a replacement for a durable exclusion record or consent archive.

Templates and workflows

Recreate editable designs and workflow logic. Provider-specific blocks, trigger behavior and reporting history are not automatically translated.

Sending route and cost

Hosted sending uses your plan allowance. Your own server is billed separately and uses its own capacity. Choose a plan that also covers subscriber and server counts.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions

Will my old automations and reports move automatically?

No. This is a manual migration. Rebuild and test workflows, templates, forms and integration settings in SendMailOS. Keep your original reports and export history separately.

Should I import unsubscribed or bounced people as active subscribers?

No. Keep unsubscribed, complained, invalid and other excluded addresses out of the active import. Preserve the original exclusions and consent records. The standard dashboard CSV import uses email, name and tags; a provider status column does not transfer those statuses.

Can I use my own server after switching?

Yes. Unlimited emails with your own server are available from €12/month. This means no monthly platform email quota for messages actually sent through your connected server. VPS costs, warm-up, fair use, server capacity, subscriber limits and other plan limits still apply.

Does the local CSV checker upload my contacts?

No. The checker processes pasted values in your browser and downloads a reviewed CSV. It does not import subscribers, verify consent, validate mailboxes, or create suppression records. Review the output before using it in your workspace.
